Yemi is 6 months old!!!!!!

Wow! I can't believe it. My little man is 6 months old today. Time is flying way too fast.
Lately Yemi is been up to a lot of things:
He is still teething really bad which means that EVERYTHING goes into his mouth. And when I say everything, I mean everything.
He is standing up on his own and trying to WALK. Yes walk. I can't believe it either but it is true. I guess he is in a hurry.
Today he had his first "official" solid food. It was avocado. We also brought out the high chair today so he can begin using it.
I love Yemi more than words can express. He shows and teaches me new things everyday. I don't know what life was without him. He is more than I deserve and more than I could ever ever imagine.
Yemi, mommy loves you more than you will ever realise

Happy Birthday Ola!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
Well today is Ola's birthday!!!!!! We currently have guest at home. Uncle Josue  from Benin and uncle Joel from Canada. We woke up this morning and had "yovo doco" a traditional king of beignet from back home. Then at lunch we had "attaci"another traditional rice and beans type food and for dinner we went to master grill, a Brazilian churrascaria. Man the food was GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ola, I just want to wish you again a happy happy birthday! I know we don't have a perfect marriage but I love what we have. I love the man that you are, the husband that you are and the father that you are. You are a great leader to our family and I pray that continue to help you in all that you do.

I love you

Happy Birthday Bibi and week end update!

Hello,
First thing first: today is Bibi (my older sister)'s birthday. She turns the big 3-0, thirty of course. She recently had a baby girl named Esther. I just want to say that I LOVE my sister to death. I remember growing up she was always there, always taking of me. She is one the sweetest, nicest person you would ever ever meet. Bibi si jamais tu lis ceci sache que tu es vraiment une benediction dans ma vie.

Week end updates:
On Friday, I went to a local beauty school here in Dallas to get my hair(actually  my weave) shampoo and conditioned. Now I always knew that beauty schools were cheap but i just didn't know how cheap.Well let me tell you that I paid(drum roll please......) 6 bucks, $6 dollars.WOW!!!! That's what t I like man, a GREAT deal.

On Saturday we had our very first women's ministry meeting. I am currently the leader of the of the women's ministry at our church. I am truly humble and honored to have been given such a responsibility. I pray that God help and guide me through this new journey that I just embarked on. The meeting went very well.

On Sunday we want to church and in the evening I went to my 2nd class of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University(FPU). These classes are changing my life and will seriously changed yours too. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
And finally today was a chill day. I went and ran some errands at wal-mart and came home. In the afternoon I took Ola  to the airport. He is going to Austin for the week for work. We took a picture right before we left home.
Here we are:

Today I also learned that my uncle Covi (my mom's little brother) passed away. He has been sick the last couple of years but I though he was getting better. I pray that God heals us from the pain and sadness his death brings. Lately, every time I hear someone I know died, I wondered if I had ever talk to them about Jesus. I always feel so guilty. I pray that God will give me more courage to spread his word around me.

Ok, that's all for today. Remember, every single day that we have is a gift. the breath that we breathe are not guaranteed, they are a gift from God.

Yemi is 4 months old!

Hello,
Today my sweet little boy is 4 MONTHS OLD. Wow! Time really flew by. I remember when he was still in my  belly, I remember the first time I held him in my hands, his first smile. I thank God for giving me the greatest gift ever: the gift to be a MOTHER. It is a responsibility that I take very seriously and I pray that God makes me the mother he wants me to be. I also would like to thank Ola, he has been a very good help, partner and we make a great team together. He is an awesome father and I am very grateful to have him as a husband.

On another note today is the 10th year anniversary  of the 9/11 attacks. I remembered exactly where I was when I heard about the attacks. I can't believe it has been 10 years. I pray that God heals all those that are still suffering. Remember, there is a hole in your hearts(everyone's hearts) that only God can fill

Ok that's all for today.

A rough day

Hi Everyone,
Today was very very rough day. Lately, during the day, Yemi only wants to sleep in my hands. As soon as he falls asleep and you lay him he wakes up almost instantly. Believe me I  would really LOVE to hold him, and rock him, and dandle(just discovered a new verb) him all day but it is just not possible. So today Ola and I decided to let him actually sleep in his crib. After I rocked him, I put him in his crib and as expected he woke up almost immediately. So we let Yemi cry and cry he did. Yemi cried and cried and finally fell asleep. I wanted to pick him up, I really did but I couldn't. My heart was aching, I kept going back in the room to check on him, give him his pacifier and reassure him. Finally I left the house.

Here he is asleep:

Before the nap,sooooooooooo cute

So while I was driving I though about my relationship with God. I wondered all the time when God was trying to teach me a lesson, all the times when I was crying out to him for a particular reason and he was letting me "cry". Sometimes, as much as you love someone you have to be strict for the greater good. If every single time I  had cried out to God he had given in so quickly I would have never learned all that I know about him. For example, if you ask God for patience, he will put you in situations where patience will be required so that you can learn to be patient. And I know that as parents Ola and I will have to take decisions that our children will not always agree with but that is the reason why we are the parents and they are our children. We need to make decisions that are best for them.

Anyway, on on fun note today my friend Ruth who is currently staying with us at home cooked one of my favorite food from back home call "ablo". I had not had it in such a long time and it was oh so good. Ruth is an excellent cook and I mean EXCELLENT. you name it she she can cook it and she loves doing it. She has been such a blessing to our family and I am very very grateful to her.

Here is the picture of "ablo". So Yummy....

Ok that's all for today. And always remember that each day that you have where you are healthy and surrounded by the people you love is truly a gift.

God is alive

Hello,
It's been soooo long since my last post, and so much has happened. Will get to that later.
Last Saturday, August 27th, we had a great church service (called crossroad ministries) and the Prophet(our pastor) gave me a prophecy that confirmed a lot of things. I just want to say that God is alive. He knows every little thing about our lives, EVERYTHING.
Thank you Lord for ALL that you do for me!

Let me introduce my family

I am a brand new mom:). Our son Olayemi (we call him Yemi) was born 05/11/11 and my life has not be the same. I know it sounds very cliche but being a mom is INDESCRIBABLE. It is a LOVE that I never thought existed. I love this little man more than anything in the world.

My husband Ola and I have been married for almost 2 years. He is the funniest, most loving and caring person I have ever met and I love him to death. I thank God for our family.

My very first post!

Hello Everyone,

I have been wanting to start a journal for a while now but I always felt that there is only so much you can do with a journal. You can't post pictures or videos, you can't add a link, basically you can only write your thoughts. Then I stumbled upon a friend's blog and I had my "AHA" moment.

So here I am. I will try my best to blog as often as possible
Hope you all like it
